Dory Hudspeth

Poets are banned

from the Waffle House a small
town newspaper proclaimed.
It may be beyond all rhyme
or reason, but can you conjure
the image of how intentionally
difficult it must have been
to ode or elegy badly
enough to be kicked out
of a Waffle House
and in fixed form
to never return.
